During Fall Semester of 2023 at Syracuse University, I completed a capstone project under the supervision of Charquetta Hudson, an assistant professor in the Department of Fashion Design, where I was asked to choose a brand that has consistently showcased social and environmental responsibility throughout the years. I chose Diesel after gaining a deeper understanding of their LaChapelle Campaign in 1994 which celebrated the authentic expression of LGBTQ individuals.

In the end, I created a capsule collection that was inspired by Diesel’s unique brand aesthetic and ideology that sincerely promotes individuality. I did this through leveraging the concept of multifunctionality as a vehicle to provide diverse consumers the power to customize garments to their likings. Specifically, I designed women’s ready-to-wear clothing that was comprised of multiple components that could be interchanged based on one’s preferences.
